Personal experience, professional training, and a functional-medicine approach that supports the whole you.

My introduction into nutritional therapy began through my own health challenges, including burnout, hormonal changes, autoimmune thyroid disease, and thyroid cancer.

Experiencing first hand the impact that personalised nutrition and lifestyle support can have inspired me to retrain as a Nutritional Therapist and NLP Coach. Today, I combine evidence-based nutritional science with genuine empathy to help people better understand their symptoms, improve their wellbeing, and create sustainable changes that support long-term health.

MY STORY

Growing up in a busy household, getting a meal on the table was a daily feat of endurance for my poor mother. It's fair to say that food was just fuel, and nutrition as such, wasn't particularly high on the agenda.

It was during my twenties, as a mother of three myself, that everything began to shift. With a husband and son both experiencing severe gluten intolerance, and a multi-generational family to feed, cooking from scratch became the norm — and reading food labels became something of a lifelong obsession. I really began to appreciate how food and lifestyle could powerfully impact how my family could thrive rather than just survive.

My own health challenges began to surface in my late thirties and into my forties — a hysterectomy, weight gain, dwindling energy that had once seemed inexhaustible, and a resilience to stress that was quietly failing me and no doubt exacerbated by the joy that is menopause. Life was demanding — as I juggled a busy career in sustainable construction and a master's degree — but I was, as many of us do, largely getting on with it. Until, eventually, feeling on the verge of complete burn out, I sought support from a nutritional therapist.

What followed was genuinely eye-opening. With the benefit of more comprehensive testing than my GP could offer, she identified sub-optimal thyroid function and elevated antibodies indicating autoimmune involvement — and, crucially, connected these to the chronic stress I had been carrying since my twenties. Her nutritional and lifestyle recommendations made a significant difference. I began to feel, as I can only describe it, like myself again.

That experience was transformative — not just for my health, but for the direction of my life. Naturally curious, I wanted to understand the science behind my recovery, to really get to grips with the nutritional and biochemical mechanisms at play. What started as a desire to understand my own body ultimately led me to retrain as a nutritional therapist and NLP coach.

My studies were interrupted along the way — I stepped back to care for my mother following a stroke, navigated her subsequent death, and faced my own diagnosis of thyroid cancer and the recovery that followed. None of it was easy, but if anything, both experiences deepened my determination to complete my qualifications.  They reinforced, in the most personal of ways, just how profoundly nutrition and lifestyle can influence health outcomes — and how transformative the right support, at the right time, can be.

Those experiences are also what bring a depth of empathy to my practice that simply cannot be learned in a textbook. I understand what it is to live with persistent, unexplained symptoms. I know the frustration of being told everything is 'normal' when it very clearly isn’t. And I know the difference that truly personalised, evidence-based support can make.

So, if any part of my story resonates with you, or even if it doesn’t, I'd love to hear yours – starting with a complementary informal chat to explore how I might support you to get back to feeling your absolute best too.

Previous experience and qualifications

I also hold an MSc in Architecture: Advanced Environmental & Energy Studies and spent over a decade as a sustainability consultant in the construction industry. This background gave me a deep understanding of how the built environment; from air quality and natural light to green spaces and non-toxic materials; directly shapes human health and wellbeing. It is a perspective that informs my holistic, whole-person approach to nutrition and lifestyle recommendations, and one that very few practitioners can bring to the field.
